Group Discussion: The Psychedelic Renaissance

Details
While psychedelics have been used for thousands of years, it's predicted that in 2020, more people will experiment with psychedelics than ever before. The early psychedelic scene peaked in the late 60's before Richard Nixon signed the controlled substances act in 1970, outlawing almost all psychedelics. Users were forced "underground" and all official research was shut down for decades. More recently, however, universities and groups such as MAPS have been funding studies that show these miraculous molecules hold incredible healing abilities. These days psychedelics seem to be in the news every few weeks as everyone from technology CEO's to military veterans are reporting life changing benefits from psychedelic use. This modern resurgence of interest in powerful substances such as LSD, psilocybin, DMT, and MDMA is being called the psychedelic renaissance.
For this months meeting, I want to talk about the current state of psychedelics in 2020 and what we can expect in the near future. In 2019, we saw exciting new rule and regulation changes that will hopefully lead the way to even more law reform. Universities and private organizations are performing a number of interesting studies that could allow the FDA to approve MDMA, psilocybin, and LSD for clinical use in the very near future. We'll also discuss what to expect from the club over the next year and I'll be looking for suggestions as to topics, venues, and events. As usual this will be a laid-back, group discussion where everyone is free to share but no one will be pressured to speak. If your around this Saturday, come by Shine for a drink, snack, and share in a discussion about the psychedelic renaissance in 2020! I look forward to seeing you there!
DISCLAIMER: This will not be an illegal meetup to buy and sell illegal drugs. Safety and privacy are extremely important to each researcher.
