What we’re about
Meeting new people is a challenge and do you ever find yourself having more than enough things to do but no one to do it with. Expect an eclectic mix of activities ranging from happy hours to movies, plays or concerts, live music, dancing, and outdoorsy stuff like kayaking or bicycling and more (whatever randomly pops in our heads or you suggest). Expect food of some sort before, after or during many events.
This group is for people who don't take themselves too seriously and want to meet others in small groups.
If you want to be an event host so you may post an outing just let us know. The cool thing about hosting is you pick, the what, where and when of things that you want to do!
Please invite others to join our group to help it be vibrant.
Welcome aboard!
Don't send instant messages through meetup to folks you haven't met. Propositions to meet outside of meetup events to a virtual stranger is creepy. Of course a relevant message to an event host regarding an upcoming meetup is different.
Thank you for that consideration.
Players there are plenty of other sites if you just want to hook up one on one, don't make folks feel unsafe here. If you have done a meetup with someone and want to send them a good to see/meet you followup to me that is totally different, but if they do not reply or aren't interested don't be a "meetup creep". Of course it's great if folks "meetup" and some magic develops. So please remember while it is fun to "meetup", this group is not "hookup.com" or "match.com". Not everyone here is single or seeking a romance.
Remember if you receive an unsolicited message or suspicious or inappropriate behavior, please report it to Paul S, it is grounds for immediate dismissal of violating party. They probably are spamming others here and in other groups. We will ban them.

We did this a couple times it was lovely! Beautiful sunset and night time lights on bridges and buildings! A vibrant downtown on a Saturday night.
Sunset is 809pm.
Possible drinks or food afterwards. https://www.ricksontheriver.com/ Sometimes they have live music 7 to 11pm.
Go here for photos or here and
hit play slideshow (option 2) to see photos from prior event,
or click right photos/
We will put in at the dog park, and maybe go to Ricks on River afterwards. We will paddle down to the Convention Center and return. The waterway will be busy so please be serious about lighting on your yak. A hand-held flashlight will NOT be safe. Battery operated Christmas lights and a bright white light would be very safe and cool at the same time.
Parking may fill so you need to park cattycornered across street at basketball courts.
Some folks may kayak 4 miles some less. 4 miles might be easy for someone experienced or in great shape, but next to impossible if not experienced or in poor shape. It is out and back so if you get tired you may turn around and go back, but tell the group you are doing that and wait for us to return to secure kayak unless you brought your own.
It's not fair to the group if someone comes and is way slower or needs someone else to take them back to the launch part way into the paddle. Please be self aware if you can do this.

~ THIS EVENT IS EVERYDAY THIS WEEK. PLEASE CONTACT SHELTER TO ARRANGE FOSTER CARE ~
Dear Friend,
We hope to take in several dogs from another shelter that does not have the capacity for them this week. These dogs need our help, but we can only take them if we have foster homes lined up!
These pups have doggy colds (kennel cough and/or upper respiratory infection) so we need folks who do not have any other dogs so they can get the R&R they need. Once they are feeling better they’ll be ready to go up for adoption and find their new families!
If you have not fostered before, here’s what you should know:
• We provide all the supplies you need to care for a pet in your home
• We will walk you through their care
• We are available to answer questions
• You just provide a relaxing home environment and TLC!
Typically fostering requires a commitment of a minimum of two weeks and you need to live within 30 miles of the shelter.Contact shelter for Days and Hours they are available: 727-522-6566.
