Richmond Book Club March 18, 2026 Meeting--Good Dirt (Charmaine Wilkerson)
Details
The Richmond Book Club's March meeting will be held Wednesday, March 18, 2026, beginning at 7:00 p.m., at the Capital Ale House, Midlothian, 13831 Village Place Drive. The book we're reading is Good Dirt (Charmaine Wilkerson, 2025).
From What Is Quinn Reading:
"There are just so many layers to this novel. Whenever you think you’ve gotten to the bottom of the story, it opens up in an entirely new direction. So many characters and conversations, woven together with such skill and dexterity — a quilt made up of the threads of so many lives, emotions, and experiences. (Or perhaps, to be more on theme with the book, not a quilt but a jar, one big enough to hold every detail of a family stretching across centuries.)"
"It’s the kind of multi-generational story that could easily have become muddied as it ping-pongs between decades and centuries, present and past. But thanks to the flow and patter of Wilkerson’s writing, everything remains consistently clear. The way she brings a scene, characters, and dialogue to life makes it feel like you’re there; you’re embedded, you’re a part of it. You never lose your sense of time or space because it feels like these people actually exist, that they’re out there in the world, somewhere."
We'll talk about the book, socialize, and have something eat/drink. Let me know if you have questions, etc. You can email me at me at pawoodson@msn.com or call/text 760-650-6953. You can also use the Notifications or Messages functions on the club's group page.
Thanks.
