This hike is considered ADVANCED because of distance, elevation gain and pace. Read the entire description before you RSVP to this event. If you underestimate the demands; overestimate your knowledge, experience, skills or abilities; or come unprepared you put yourself and others at risk. Consider this before you RSVP.

== What We're Doing ==

Huntington Ravine on Mt Washington is a spicy hike by any definition. Always fun, and always a big day. Belongs on any list of top 5 hikes in the Northeast US.

The plan is to go up the Huntington Ravine Trail (HRT), across the Alpine Garden, and down Lion's Head.

Rain date: HRT is very sensitive to rain. The steep rock is only safe when dry. If it rains the night before or in the morning, we'll have to change to something safer. Make sure to check in a day or two in advance.

If you are interested in participating in this event sign up for the waiting list. I will add people that answer the questions that are part of the RSVP process.

The maximum group size for this trip will be 10 people.

Guests aren't permitted.

Dogs... probably are not a good idea on this one.

=== Trip Summary ===

We start as a group, hike as a group, and finish as a group. This is intended as a conversational-pace hike. At least on the parts where we are not clinging to the rock, lol. We will hike at a moderate pace, about 2 miles an hour on easy ground. Our pace will be that of the slowest hiker. This trip isn't for you if you like to take off on your own or find yourself lagging behind on other hikes.

It should take about 9 hours. The planned distance is 7.0 miles and the elevation gain is 3400. Don't let the mileage fool you, any trip up HRT is a big day.

=== What to Bring ===

A good gear list is here. Also bring a sense of humor, a story and a smile. And don't forget a banjo.

Do not rely on others to have extra items to share with you at the meeting spot or on the trail. You should know how to use all of your equipment - test it for fit prior to this trip.

=== Directions ===
Meet at the wooden sign in front of the Pinkham Notch visitor center.

=== RSVP Instructions ===

RSVP Process: You will be asked one question after you click "YES" for this event - "Did you read the entire event description? Did you spot the silly item? What hikes have you done in the last three months? What is your cell number for last minute arrangements? " Stay under the 250 character limit, otherwise Meetup will drop your response and I won't know you are signed up. You can always direct message me for more info / questions. Meetup can take hours to forward messages, so SMS/text is much better for last minute hiccups.
