What can the Democratic Party do to save itself?

Many argue that the Democratic Party is out of touch, unmanageable, lackluster, etc., likely leading to many future defeats. What can the Party do to win more elections?

Or, is society leaning more conservative? Or, more liberal, but out of touch? Or more moderate?

Where should the Party go with the major topics of the election: The economy and immigration? Many avenues to go.
