How to address our greatest threats and crises? Let's compare some approaches

Details

For this event, we will consider the ideas I put forth with co-authors Nick Hedlund and Claudia Meglin in this paper, entitled "Mapping an Ecology of Integrative Approaches to Addressing the Metacrisis". Here is the link:

Central questions we might consider:

  • How can we conceptualize the greatest global challenges, risks, and threats?
  • Are there underlying drivers and root causes?
  • What term do you think works best to refer to this highly complex phenomenon? Perhaps poly-crisis? Meta-crisis? Something else?
  • How might we begin to address our greatest threats and crises?
  • How might we take stock of the approaches that have been proposed? How might we map them out? How might we compare and contrast them?
  • Are there ways that we might develop greater coordination and collaboration in order to make tangible progress in improving the state of the world in the coming years?
