The present crisis: Israel and Iran are at war. The US might get dragged into this.

The background context from the last 2 years: Israel has been trying to eradicate Hamas in Gaza and has caused enormous collateral damage that, while terrorists have been targeted and some hostages have been freed, has also lead to the deaths of tens of thousands of *innocent* people, including children.

Where is this going? Is there any way to de-escalate the violence? Can we do anything to prevent the US from directly entering this conflict?

Update: The above description was written on June 7 at noon PDT and the last question prompted became obsolete 4 hours later when US war planes dropped bombs on Iran nuclear sites. New questions: were the attacks on Iran justified? Were they nuclear weapons sites or nuclear power sites? Is there anything we can do to avoid further escalation and even more us involvement? Also, what would truly be good for Israel? Israeli PM Nentanyahu has opinions on this matter, which involve very hawkish behavior. Do you agree with him? Are there other perspectives to consider?
