What we're about

Individuals get involved to the skeptical movement for different reasons: as a way to promote science and the scientific method, because they are sick and tired of seeing people get duped by quacks, or because they think it is where all the cool kids are. Either way, it does not matter if you consider yourself a skeptic, critical thinker, or are just curious as to what we are all about, anyone is welcome to join this group and attend our meetings.

The Sacramento Area Skeptics were created in 2008 in an effort to organize a way for skeptics in the Sacramento area to meet one another. We organize lectures, co-host the annual SkeptiCal Conference, and host monthly social gatherings where like minds can discuss various topics over a pint. We work to promote science and critical thinking in the area and around the world and hope you join us in our effort.

*We are also on Facebook - check out the Sacramento-Area Skeptics page*

Critical Thinking Workshop

Reason Center

$1.00

Details A bi-monthly workshop series where we learn, practice, and explore the concepts of critical thinking. We will begin each workshop with a video or reading that teaches a fundamental concept and then apply it to current/ relevant topics in a group discussion format. The plan is to meet on the first and third Tuesday of each month.

Sacramento Skeptics in the Pub

Needs a location

New meeting place for Skeptics in the Pub! Sactown Union Brewery is close to the old location and has great beer! There is usually a food truck on site and there is pizza and sandwiches right next door which you can bring in. Another nice thing is that we can get our own beers and pay for them at the bar, no combined check to deal with! We can try this place for March and see how it works out.
