About us
We're a group of guitarists and luthiers, professionals as well as amateurs, of all ages and levels, who enjoy getting together, playing for one another informally, meeting for open mics and occasionally going to concerts together. We welcome acoustic guitarists who play any music in fingerpicking style.

SFCM Guitar Youth Orchestra plays Contrapunctus I by J.S. Bach
·OnlineOnlineThe San Francisco Conservatory of Music Guitar Youth Orchestra conducted by Scott Cmiel. presents a new Virtual Guitar Orchestra video which will premiere Apr 12, 2026 at 5pm Pacific time on YouTube.
The music is the Contrpunctus I from J.S. Bach’s late masterpiece The Art of the Fugue and can be seen at this link. It was arranged by the wonderful Alan Hirsh, Executive Director and Vice President of Education of the Aaron Shearer Foundation.
Thanks to the outstanding faculty at the SFCM Pre-College. Angelica Artelt, Theresa Calpotura, Matthew Cmiel, Scott Cmiel, Jon Mendle, Mark Simons, Meng Su, Ross Thompson worked each week to help the students attain the high level of artistry evident in the performance.
