Hi there! Thanks for checking our group out!
We are a community of amazing Koreans and Korean Americans in the Bay Area. We want to provide a safe, welcoming, and fun place for Koreans/Korean Americans to meet and hangout, whether you are new, old, or transitory to this foggy city of San Francisco and beyond. Most of our events are social by nature, but of course the socializing often leads to friendships and professional connections!
To join, you must be at least half Korean (adopted is fine). This is because most people join this group specifically to meet other Koreans, thus we seek to provide that environment to our members. For non-Koreans interested in Korean or other Asian cultures, please check out other Asian oriented Meetup groups to pursue your interests. Else if you are joining on behalf of your Korean spouse/friend, please have them join and you are welcome to attend our events with them!
Also, we ask that you post a recent picture with your face clearly showing, and a use a name for your profile (opposed to initials or a random word). This is both practical and social - we can find you at events more easily, and we're building a real community here, not an anonymous online forum! (you're membership request may be declined without this)
This group will be what the members make of it, so we hope that you will become an active participant and perhaps even organize an event or two. If you have an idea and want to organize something, suggest it by clicking on the Upcoming Meetups link on the left. We'll be happy to announce the event for you so that we can find other Koreans who are interested in doing your idea together.
We also run on donations from the members to help cover the cost of the group. Any donations you make will be used to cover the Meetup fees and fun events through the Meetup - so if you appreciate what this group does for you, please make a donation by paying your dues! But to be clear - the dues are entirely voluntary!
