*Please note that we started recording the SF/EBOT Trade-of-the-Month back at the 5/19/2019 meeting. As of 5/15/2024 (our 5-year mark of 60 ToTMs), these generate a monthly return of 1.83% (>S&P 1.22%) (More MONEY!) and at a standard deviation of 5.46% (<5.80% vol for S&P) (More SLEEP!).
7:45ish sometimes we meetup in the East Bay (Hayward OR San Ramon, CA) for beers to toast our successes & learn from our less profitable trades. Soundboards, serendipities, and collaborations often come afoot!
We try to meet the Wednesday of Expiration week before Friday expiration (the third Friday of the month) to fine tune any trades on beforehand & plan rolls/ closeouts/ more trades.
ABOUT THE HOST: Jonathan Masse, CFA cut his teeth early in his career on the options trading floors in Chicago & PSE (1994-2000), then moved upstairs as BGI was launching their iShares product set (where he run institutional Emerging Markets funds 2000-2007). He went on to run a hedge fund with Burton Malkiel of "Random Walk Down Wall Street" fame form 2007-2015. He runs his consultancy (MC-Squared) that launched $100 of millions of ETFs using options & his advisory (at Perigon Wealth Management), in addition to his true passion: Teaching!
He currently serves as an instructor for the Risk Management class at UC Berkeley & for the CFA-SF Exam Review program (Portfolio Management, Derivatives, International Investing, Alternatives, etc)
ABOUT YOU: All levels are welcome! The plan will be to follow an institutional "Investment Committee Agenda" to start the conversation, and move on to topics on the mind of the group: newbies to learn, intermediates to talk strategy, and the advanced to get into the weeds. We will occasionally bring guest speakers, and turn to CNBC's weekly "Options Action" show to review trades / ideas/ segments and compare it to our own portfolios and goals.
