Walk the Wild History of San Francisco’s Barbary Coast

Details

Join us for a guided walk through the original wild side of San Francisco—the Barbary Coast. Once a lawless Gold Rush port packed with saloons, dance halls, and gamblers, this neighborhood tells the story of how a muddy shoreline became a booming, bawdy city.

We’ll uncover hidden history beneath modern streets, visit landmarks that survived fire and earthquake, and bring to life the characters—pirates, pioneers, poets, and outlaws—who shaped San Francisco’s early days. Whether you’re a history buff or just curious about the city’s untamed past, this walk offers a vivid glimpse into where it all began.
