Welcome to our Jazz Dance Meetup Group! Join us for an all levels jazz funk class that blends the precision of jazz with the bold, high-energy moves of hip-hop. If you love the choreography in music videos, you’ll feel right at home learning fast-paced combos, intricate movements, and expressive gestures.
This style of jazz was shown in its early form on the sketch comedy series In Living Color. The resident dance troupe, the Fly Girls, of which Jennifer Lopez was a member, opened and closed every show with a hip-hop and jazz performance choreographed by Rosie Perez. This style of dance remains popular today, and has been used in music videos by Beyoncé, Paula Abdul, Gwen Stefani, and Janet Jackson.
What to expect: A fun, welcoming environment where you’ll push your boundaries, improve your technique, and let your personality shine.

* No prior experience necessary to attend a class.
• No special clothes are required, what feels comfortable for you is good.
• Please wear clothing that allows for unrestricted movement. Dance slippers, dance sneakers, or socks are preferable for footwear. Dance shoes available for sale at our dance boutique.

PARKING (studio has 8 parking spots available):
FREE On-Street Parking After 6pm and in all city-owned parking facilities everyday after 6pm and all day Sundays and on city-designated holidays.
Kiku Parking Garage with 526 spaces is located at 400 E. 5th Avenue in San Mateo, parking is Free Mon-Sat after 6pm and all day Sunday (you can park there and walk two blocks to the studio).
