Batiquitos Lagoon

3.4 miles, 100ft ascent, out-and-back. No hazards.

Description: We'll hike along the north shore of Batiquitos Lagoon in Carlsbad. There is a fair amount of shade. The 561 acre lagoon attracts a lot of birds. We've done this hike several times before. For more information, including pictures, see the 7/27/2023 page.

Meet at 9:00AM at the trailhead at the south end of Gabbiano Lane

Leashed dogs are allowed. Bathroom at visitor center may be closed - don't count on it!!

Directions: : Go north on I-5 and take exit 45 (Poinsettia Lane, Aviara Pkwy). Go east on Poinsettia Lane, turn right on Batiquitos Dr., turn right again on Gabbiano Lane, and follow it to its end.

TIPS: Wear good hiking shoes, dress in layers, take a hat, sunscreen, water and a snack.
