La Jolla Coast Walk

Details
This is a hike in Schad's 50 Best Short Hikes. It's an easy 1.5-mile out-and-back, although we will go farther than that, probably to Nicholson Point, for a 3.7-mile round trip. We've done this hike several times before, most recently on June 23, 2022. (Has it been that long?) For details, including pictures, see www.meetup.com/sandiegodayhikers/events/286700087
At the end of the out-and-back hike, we will take a short optional side trip across the famous La Jolla Coast Walk Bridge.
The hike is entirely on pavement or hard-packed dirt. Hiking shoes are not required. It will be a hot day, but La Jolla is usually comfortable even when the rest of the San Diego area is hot. Use sun protection (hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, etc.).
We'll meet at 9:30 AM at the wide spot on Prospect Pl. just west of Torrey Pines Rd. (N 32 50.880 W 117 16.078), and we'll step off at 9:45.
SUGGESTED ROUTE FROM SAN DIEGO: Go north on I-5 and exit at La Jolla Parkway (formerly Ardath Road). Follow La Jolla Parkway, which merges with Torrey Pines Rd. Turn right on Prospect Pl. The wide spot is on the right.
NOTE: A mild traffic jam on La Jolla Parkway is likely; allow about ten minutes extra for this. The parking area at the wide spot will probably be full, but overflow parking is available nearby. Just go back across Torrey Pines Rd. and uphill one short block to Virginia Way, where street parking is usually available. Walk back down to the wide spot.
MTS bus number 30 stops nearby every half hour.
CONTACT: Philip Erdelsky cell 619-866-8512 e-mail pje@efgh.com. Cell phone service is available in this area, but there may be some dead spots.
Dogs are not allowed in several places along the coast walk. There are no rest rooms at the trailhead, but we will pass some public rest rooms at La Jolla Cove.
