North Fortuna Mountain from Via Valarta

6 miles 1000ft ascent.

From Via Valarta to North Fortuna Mountain and looping back. The trails are quite steep in places, but the view from the summit (on a clear day) is worth the climb. North Fortuna is one of the peaks in the Five Peaks Challenge. Hiking poles recommended for steeper descents. Last here 2/25.

FROM SAN DIEGO: From I-805 take CA-52 East and exit on Santo Rd. Turn right then left at the light onto Portobelo Dr. Continue to Camino Playa Cancun on the left after a bend. Park on this street.

Wear good hiking shoes and a hat. Take water, sunscreen and a snack for the summit.
