What we're about

The FUNK of FORTY THOUSAND YEARS!

Thrill The World is the annual worldwide simultaneous dance to Michael Jackson's "Thriller." December, 2020 marked the 37th anniversary of his Thriller video.

This event is a global community project that inspires others to break down barriers by connecting people of all religions, races, political persuasions, and economic backgrounds.

Each year in October the Seattle Thrillers join Thriller groups in other nations to perform at the same time. The 15th annual Thrill The World performance will take place at Normandy Park Towne Center in Normandy Park, WA. The event will be Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 3:00 pm precisely. This year the Seattle Thrillers dance troupe is partnering with The Friends of Normandy Park Foundation https://friendsofnormandypark.org/

For Thrill The World 2021, the Seattle Thrillers will be following King County's outdoor covid mandate. All attendees and dancers will be required to wear masks regardless of vaccination status.

The local group also performs for various organizations in and around Seattle for donations to their selected charity. If you live in the greater Seattle area and would like to learn the dance in a class setting, in-person rehearsals will resume the weekend after Labor Day, 2021. It is free to learn the dance.

Thrill The World is not a flash mob as the media is contacted prior to the performance.

Sponsors: Friends of Normandy Park Foundation, Zombie Fest Northwest, Normandy Park City Hall, My World Dance & Fitness, Healthitude Fitness & Nutritional Coaching, & Napolitano Skin & Body Studio.

T-Shirts: Seattle Thrillers t-shirts will be available at rehearsals and at the event.

City of Normandy Park City Hall

Update 10/20, For The Event: In following King County's covid mandate, everyone will be required to show proof of either being vaccinated or a negative covid test 72 hours prior to the event. No proof is needed for under 12 years of age. Proof can be a copy of the vaccination card or test results, a photo taken of them, or the original. All attendees and dancers at the event will still be required to wear masks regardless of vaccination status or a negative covid test result. Check in for the dancers will begin at 12:30 and will end at 2:25 on the 30th. Please do not wait until the last minute to register.

Dress Rehearsal! Please arrive at this practice in the zombie outfit that you will be wearing on the day of the event, or as we refer to it as FZA (Full Zombie Attire). This practice is for those who have been attending rehearsals or who are already familiar with the routine and want to refresh their memory. We will be running through the full choreography several times. We will not be teaching the moves from the beginning.

Date & Location: Saturday, October 23rd, 1:00-3:00 on the grounds next to Normandy Park City Hall, 801 SW 174th St, Normandy Park, WA, 98166.

The first building you will see when you arrive is the Recreation Center. City Hall is behind it. If the basketball court is available, we will practice there instead of on the baseball field. It is in back of the City Hall building in between City Hall and the restroom. If you park in front where the circular drive is, follow the long sidewalk to the back of the 2nd building.

This year we will be donating to The Friends of Normandy Park Foundation https://friendsofnormandypark.org/ and we will accept contributions at all rehearsals and on the day of the event.

Things to know on the City Hall premises:
* There are restrooms that allow one person at a time and masks are mandatory to wear inside of them, so please remember to bring your mask with you.
* Carpooling is highly encouraged if possible due to limited parking. There is a QFC 1.2 miles from City Hall as a possible meeting place for carpooling.

Once you register online, all that will be required is your signature next to your entry at check-in. If you wait until the day of, you will be required to fill out the form there. It is understandable if you do not have online access, but if you do, please register here: https://forms.gle/TsjnSJ6Qp8TdVLH79

Practice Performance 10/23

Normandy Park Towne Center

Update 10/17: Due to new state and county requirements regarding large events, proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours will be required to attend our Thrill The World event on Saturday, October 30th. All attendees will receive an arm band for showing proof. Dancers will receive 2 different colored arm bands - one for signing the waiver and the other for showing proof.

Following our rehearsal on October 23rd, we will drive to Normandy Park Towne Center for a practice performance (about 5 minutes away). We will meet in the south parking lot, in the large area between the Subway sandwich shop and Ace Hardware. These buildings face each other.

We will go through the routine as we will perform it on Thrill Day. Just after we dance with the rest of the world on the 30th, we will perform a 2nd time, off the clock, with the children leading. This 2nd dance will be included in our practice performance. Both days will be in the south lot at Towne Center (on the same side of the center as Subway).

This year we will be donating to The Friends of Normandy Park Foundation https://friendsofnormandypark.org/ and we will accept contributions at all rehearsals and on the day of the event.

Hello Veteran Zombies and Welcome New Zombies!

Great news! The Seattle Thrillers are partnering with The Friends of Normandy Park Foundation for Thrill The World 2021! This free shared event will take place October 30th in Normandy Park Towne Center, Normandy Park, WA. Our Thrill The World dance performance time is 3:00 precisely. We will be in the south lot (same side of the center as Subway).

This will be a fun-filled day of activities! There will be free pumpkins while they last, costume contest, scavenger hunt, band, beer garden, vendors, vaccination clinic, & more!

We will dance 3 times on the 30th, back to back. The 1st dance will be with the rest of the world, then we will take a minute to collect donations from the spectators, then we will go into the 2nd dance off the clock with the children leading, immediately followed by the 3rd dance where we will turn around with our backs facing the spectators with the music on our slowest speed to allow all attendees to dance with us. This has been a tradition with a good response when we have been invited to perform at Zombie Fest Northwest at the same location. Immediately following our 3rd dance, we will begin our costume contest.

At check-in you will receive 2 arm bands - one for proof of showing vaccination card or negative covid test and the second one to indicate you have registered and signed the waiver. As always, all dancers must sign the waiver before the dance performance begins.

I will be teaching a tutorial 10:30-12:00 (starting promptly at 10:30). This will take place behind the empty building by the only set of stairs, located in the south lot. The empty building used to be a gym, and it is beside Helena Cleaners.
