Post-Partisan Forum: Demystify AI to Save Democracy

In this age of intensifying propaganda, artificial intelligence may be the only way for Americans to cut through the fog and continue governing ourselves as the founders intended. To preserve democracy, we need to demystify AI as quickly as possible.

For example, we asked Perplexity “Is the U.S. becoming less democratic according to reputable media and pundits?” and received an 800-word assessment that distilled over 40 sources. The analysis provided a) the most widely used international measure for political health, b) a chronology of the U.S.’s fall into authoritarianism, and c) six events illustrating how we’re slipping. Here's the types of prompts we'll put to AI during our Forum session. Try them ahead of time if you have an AI account:

• Is it safe for democracy to allow the government to cancel a university's federal grants and restore them only if it cancels its diversity, ethics, and inclusion programs?
• What’s the danger in the government denying to do business with any AI company whose product is “too woke”?
