Event Description
Artificial intelligence is rapidly becoming one of the most important technological developments of our time. AI systems are now influencing science, work, media, education, and many other parts of society. At the Secular Hub, we are launching a new recurring series to explore these developments together.
Inside AI: How We Actually Use AI at Work
What does using AI professionally actually look like?
Not in theory, but in day-to-day work?
For this session of Inside AI, Secular Hub members Alfred Ortega and Dirk Huizenga will share how they use artificial intelligence in their professional lives. Through real-world examples, they’ll show some of the tasks they use AI for, how they incorporate it into their work, and where it has—or hasn’t—made them more productive.
We’ll explore questions such as:
• What kinds of work are particularly well suited to AI?
• How does AI change the amount or type of work one person can accomplish?
• Where does it save significant time—and where doesn’t it?
• How do you decide when to trust an AI-generated result?
• What have Alfred and Dirk learned from actually working with these tools?
There will be plenty of time for questions and discussion. The emphasis will be on concrete examples and practical experience, rather than predictions about what AI might someday be able to do.
No technical background is required. Whether you use AI regularly, have experimented with ChatGPT a few times, or are simply curious about what people are actually doing with these tools, you’re welcome.
Recurring schedule: We meet on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month, from 10:00 AM–12:00 PM.
No technical background is required. This event series is intended for anyone curious about artificial intelligence and interested in thoughtful discussion about its role in our world.
Whether you are already experimenting with AI tools or simply curious about what these technologies mean for society, you are welcome to join the conversation.
