NorCal World School offers to anyone and everyone who wants to learn, have fun and meet new people.
The world is our classroom. Let's go on a field trip!!
Past Events been in music and dance, martial arts and yoga, meditation and philosophy, dating and relationships, acting and improvisation, networking and social media, foreign languages, computer use, job hunting, startups - and many other topics as well.
The World School is focused on sharing activities and teaching skills which are fun, healthy and useful.
Currently in person events are located in the Bay Area. Our events are often styled as potlucks, classes, workshops and public talks. We go on field trips, so we can explore new areas and discover new things, and we like to gather in parks and public areas. Indoors we gather in community centers and community meeting rooms, or we might be found in cafes, private homes and in public classrooms.
All classes and events at our locations are open to all. Everyone is always welcome to attend.
We only have one rule at the: Be Excellent to Each Other
So come and enjoy yourself, start training your body and your mind, meet new people - or teach and share what you know.

Careers in Hospice Nursing and Death Care

Gain an in-depth understanding of hospice nursing, death work, and end-of-life doula care with Amelia Coplan, an experienced hospice nurse and death worker who has been practicing since 2011. Drawing from her work across hospital, hospice, and community-based settings, Amelia offers a grounded look at how professionals support patients and families through serious illness, dying, and end-of-life transitions.
She highlights the skills essential to this work, including compassionate communication, clinical judgment, adaptability, and teamwork, and also outlines education, career paths, and training opportunities for those interested in becoming end-of-life doulas.
Amelia Coplan, RN, BSN, is a registered nurse at Kaiser Permanente and a hospice nurse and death worker with over a decade of experience supporting patients and families through end-of-life care. She previously worked with Hospice By The Bay, providing care across Marin and San Francisco counties, and has a background in acute care, palliative care, and medical-surgical nursing. Amelia holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Rochester and has received training from leaders including Frank Ostaseski, Ram Dass, Roshi Joan Halifax, and Reverend Bohdi Be. Her work is deeply informed by the lessons she has learned from patients and their loved ones over the years.

Financial Planning Day: Financial Workshops and More
Location not specified yetA full day of expert advice on managing your finances and planning for the future. Get free, objective, no-strings-attached one-on-one counseling from CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professionals and attend financial workshops throughout the day. All financial workshops will take place in the Koret Auditorium. Select workshops will also be livestreamed on Zoom.
This is a hybrid event. Registration is required for Zoom attendance. In-person attendance does not require registration; seats available first come, first served.
Topics this year include investing, income tax updates, property tax and intergenerational transfers, resources to strengthen your financial skills and an empowering approach to budgeting.
