🔆 As October settles over Oakland, the Gardens at Lake Merritt come alive after dark. The Autumn Lights Festival returns, filling the seven-acre gardens with artist-crafted lanterns, magnificent light installations, and fire art. Expect live music, food and drink, and roving performances along the pathways, turning this familiar Oakland landmark into something magical. The festival is a fundraiser presented by the Friends of the Gardens at Lake Merritt, an all-volunteer group that helps keep this hidden gem thriving. Join me for an evening of art, wonder, and community by the lake.

▪︎ OUR MEETING SPOT: At the 19th St Oakland Bart stop -- Go to Exit B4 (it says 20th street, TL Berkley Way.) At the top of the escalator, meet outside by California Bank. We'll walk together to Lake Merritt.
