On Thanksgiving Day 1976, The Band took the stage with an extraordinary lineup — including Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Muddy Waters, Neil Young, Eric Clapton, Van Morrison, Emmylou Harris, Dr. John, Paul Butterfield, Mavis Staples, Stephen Stills, and more — for what became one of rock's most celebrated farewell concerts. Blending live performances with candid conversation, Scorsese turns the night into a cinematic reflection on The Band's legacy and rock and roll's evolution. Released in 1978, the same year Winterland closed, The Last Waltz preserves the memory of one of San Francisco's great cultural landmarks while standing as one of the most influential music documentaries ever made.
