To kick off the group, I recently read an article published in the San Diego Gay Times that was written this past June 2017. The article features Contributing Editor Ken Williams interviewing psychotherapist Michael Kimmel. On June 8, 2017, Mr. Kimmel released his newly authored book “The Gay Man’s Guide to Open and Monogamous Marriage”.

The Times article states that... "since June 26, 2015, when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of marriage equality, Kimmel has been flooded with questions about how gay men should embrace same-sex marriage."

I found the article to be interesting and relevant to the focus of our group and our current times. How are we gay men are navigating through the choice of monogamy, non monogamy, or a hybrid. You will find a link to the article below, please, take a moment and read it.

The questions posed in this article will become the springboard for our continuing monthly Gay Mens Meetup Discussion Group, focused on the subject of Monogamy.

This will be the first meetup of our group since our Founding Organizer Mark moved, resigned, and I (GULP) stepped up as the new organizer in order to keep this conversation going. I believe that the discussion of monogamy, both in our forming of a new romantic relationship, or maintaining an ongoing relationship, is a very deep rooted choice that is formed by our own personal experiences and values. You may agree, or might have a differing viewpoint.... either way, our Meetup Group this Sunday will be the place to talk about... or just listen to others thoughts on the subject of Monogamy in relationships. Some of the questions discussed are below, and I am extending my personal invitation for you to read them earlier this week, and ponder your thoughts as you fall asleep, or wake during the week. Try placing a notepad, or voice recorded by the bed to jot down your thoughts ... and do bring them to share with your fellow members!!!

Here are some of the questions that we might explore.... or maybe something you ring to the table we s well!

In Kimmel"s book, he propose “a radical invitation” for married gay spouses not to “settle” for traditional marriage and to “come up with your own version of what works for you and your husband.” What does this thought hold for uou?

How could monogamy be considered a controversial position, not only by many within the gay community but especially within the straight community.

What does it say about gay marriage, which is still a newfangled thing in America, when you contend that half of same-sex marriages are not monogamous? 4)
Will this discourage single gay men who hope to marry someday? 5)
Does this limit the dating pool of eligible bachelors when so many men are cheating on their spouses or have embraced open relationships?

Again, this is the re-kickof of our monogamy discussion group... it will be kicking off, takking hold, and moving forward. Its a sign of the times.

You will really want to enjoy this group of men who have attended during this past year, as well asconnect at a deeper level with men that you find interesting. While this is not a dating group, efforts will be certainly made to xonnect each other on a deeper than casual level. You want to be there a few minutes before 3pm, this Sunday.

There are also meetup expenses for the site, as well as the room. I'll share numbers Sunday, and those ahora van financually fupport... WE APPRECIATE YOU

This will be the first Meeting since Mark resigned. Please come as a favor to me, Ill do my best to serve YOU a great time... Ánd snack ;)
