Sketching the South Bay: Mission Santa Clara de Asis

The Mission Santa Clara de Asis, founded in 1777, was the first California mission named in honor of a woman. Saint Clare of Assisi, was an early friend of Saint Francis of Assisi, and thus Santa Clara and San Francisco are indeed closer than we might think. Join us for a morning of sketching, painting, and sharing. Sketching opportunities abound, be it the gardens, the Mission, or the adjoining adobe buildings. Bathrooms, coffee shops, and CalTrain are all nearby.
Let’s meet near the front of the mission at 10:00 am Saturday; we’ll share at noon.
The gardens and lawns are extensive but there are few benches, so bring a sketcher’s stool. Use Google or Apple Maps to find your best parking—the corner of Lafayette and Lexington offers close by street parking opportunities. The mission is part of Santa Clara University, and parking permits are not required on weekends.
