Cheese Plus opened as I moved into the Pacific Heights neighborhood, an upscale deli focusing on cheese, wine and the little things that make a meal special. Now they are celebrating their 20th year at 2001 Polk St, down the block from Harris' Steakhouse.

Their shelves and shop look unorganized at first glance, but as your move around their placement makes sense, like oh... I definitely need that also! Cheese Plus may not feel romantic during their block party, but definitely is, come in and shop for a special picnic, then go relax in Dolores, Golden Gate or in the hidden gem up on Gough. Some bread, cheese and a little magic (like honey) and the day will warm your heart forever.

And then there are sandwiches.. I have tried many.. and they don't seem to have changed at all. The Number 2 Willie Brown is my favorite. Duck and Fig arranged between sliced baguette in a way that makes me feel like I am not sophisticated enough.

Funny Story, shortly after Cheese Plus opened Celebrity Chef Tom Colicchio opened one of his famous sandwich places 'wichcraft in SOMA. Their Duck sandwich was a very dry pale imitation of The Willie Brown. No disrespect, but the gap was minded.

San Francisco Foodies in my three and a half tenure here has never had a repeating event. If I could rinse and repeat every five years I would.

Come and see the not so old, not so new, tasty, wonderful, loud, fun Russian Hill Block Party hosted by Cheese Plus in honor of their milestone.
