One Market: Closing Forever - Table for 10 ($25 deposit)

Details
One Market
One Market is closing, last day of service is June 11, 2025. I was fortunate to get reservations for June 9, 2025.
With all of that out of the way. I had many rememberable firsts at One Market, sitting in the valley of the tourist, they perfected a San Francisco and World Tourist Fusion that is rare, like I love my steak. Local ingredients uniquely transformed, served to a world audience all whom consider San Francisco a destination and welcomed by our local palates.
At One Market the humble Tator Tot of my youth was inflated to the size of a dinner roll, each flake of potato exactly the same size, a fat column of what is that? Deep Fried? In Duck Fat? and stealing the spot light from my entree. Creativity abounded there, in that kitchen. I know my example is a little silly, but the taste was exquisite, and I remember every bite. Newest American Cuisine is closing, and I am sad.
No shows are $25 per person, like many restaurants today, so I need a $25 deposit, non-refundable, I will return the money when we settle the check and credit your bill, or return the money to you if you have your own check.
This is a hard first half of 2025.

Who they are
Created by Chef Bradley Ogden and restaurateur, and still Managing Partner, Michael Dellar in 1993, One Market Restaurant has become a standard for sophisticated dining in San Francisco. For the past 20 years One Market has offered the award winning farm-to-table cuisine of Chef/Partner Mark Dommen. The restaurant sports views of the Ferry Building, F-Line Trolley and Bay Bridge. Featured are an open exhibition kitchen with a special “Chef’s Table”, a wood-fired grill and rotisserie, several private dining rooms, a vibrant bar with a stellar cocktail program, and caring professional service directed by Front of House-Bar Manager Oscar Davila. One Market also boasts one of the city’s most impressive wine lists curated by Sommelier and Wine Director Tonya Pitts, named the 2023 Sommelier of the Year by Wine Enthusiast.

Professional Review
One Market serves as a sort of festive, highbrow gathering spot thanks (as its address suggests) to its keystone location at the tip of Market Street, across from the Ferry Building. The expansive room and separate bar attract travelers, executives and locals. Though the restaurant was founded in 1993 by chef Bradley Ogden, chef Mark Dommen has long held the reins in the exhibition kitchen (which features a chef’s table) and can be credited with prettying up the seasonal contemporary American menu with equal parts zest and accessible sophistication. Lush Tasmanian ocean trout mi cuit is layered around potato rosti and topped with a poached egg. Just-right pork tenderloin is neatly wrapped in bacon and served over dandelion persillade and salsify, while roasted Liberty Farms duck breast is accompanied by duck andouille sausage, hazelnut granola and chocolate. Guests looking for a light bite in the bar can choose from dishes such as savory cheese donuts with bacon aïoli and habanero cheddar. The wine list is hefty and features American wines only, with a short list by the glass. Deceptively whimsical desserts feature seasonal flavors straight from the farmers market nearby. Servers bustle and guide with panache. Private events are a specialty here.

Administrative Trivia
One Market's menu shows dinner pricing for three courses is between $60 and $90 per person, excluding tax and tip. Alcoholic drinks can easily increase this average. Dress is sophisticated.
Estimated upper cost with tip and taxes is $130.
Each diner is responsible for their own orders and costs but, if we cannot get separate checks we will divvy up the final bill according to who purchased which item. Please bring cash or have Zelle or Apple Cash available.
Taxes and Fees
Dining in San Francisco has a sales tax (8.625%) and probably an employee health mandate (3-10%), a tip (20%) may be automatically added, even on individual bills.
I calculate each diner's orders separately unless the meal is shared or family style, and round up.
