From SF Chronicle:
Four Kings is not only one of the best new restaurants in the Bay Area, it is one of the best new restaurants in the country. Even before it opened its brick- and- mortar location in Chinatown, the buzz was electric. Chef-owners Franky Ho and Mike Long, who met while cooking at Mister Jiu’s, had been popping up at bars and restaurants throughout 2023. When they finally found a home below a Kumon off Kearny, they built out the space to resemble a homey izakaya, albeit one in Hong Kong instead of Hokkaido. There, Ho and Long sling their inspired takes on Cantonese diner classics like pork chop rice, scallop vermicelli, and salt and pepper squid skewers. It’s the type of place where you might walk in late for a solo bowl of mapo tofu spaghetti and end up sharing a bottle of shochu and humming along to torchy Cantopop classics with your neighbor at the counter.
Administrative Trivia
