XICA (Gluten-free Mexican): Table for 8

XICA (pronounced “Chica”) is a Chicana style restaurant serving Mexican flavors with a Bay Area-influence for brunch and dinner, along with specialty cocktail beverages.

Location is 1265 Battery Street, in Levi’s Plaza.

Started by Chefs Maria E and Ignacio Perez in 2022, XICA is a full service restaurant that signifies the return to their roots. Their first adventure was a takeout window called CHICA from 2015-2020 on Green street at Levi's Plaza, and their second was a full-service outpost called CHICA in Oakland.

Honestly, I’m not sure what the new spelling is about, but Xica is one of my favorite neighborhood restaurants. The Levi’s Plaza setting is like a sweet little secret at night. And the interior of the restaurant is filled with lovely murals that complement the great service and really solid Mexican food.

Xica maintains a gluten-free kitchen and asks that no outside food or drink be brought in.

I will be confirming attendance in the app the day before the event, and if I don’t hear from you, I will give your place to someone on the waitlist.

Costs
Appetizers are about $13-18 and entrees range from $16-45. Alcohol and dessert will increase your tab; the delicious margaritas are about $15.

Each diner is responsible for their own orders and costs, and we will have to consolidate and divvy up the final bill accordingly. Each diner’s orders will be calculated separately, unless we agree to share some food family style. Please be prepared to split the check and pay via cash, Venmo, Zelle, or Apple Pay.

Taxes and Fees
Dining in San Francisco has a sales tax (8.625%). The restaurant charges an employee health mandate and likely a mandatory gratuity for a large party (~25% for both).

~15 minute walk from Embarcadero BART
Street parking is not easy but possible. Also, there are paid lots/garages along the Embarcadero and near Levi’s Plaza.
