Rose Pizzeria San Francisco
Originally opening in 2021 with a Berkeley location, Rose Pizzeria stepped into the national spotlight in a May 2024 New York Times article naming them one of the best pizzeria's in the US, the best pizzeria in the San Francisco Bay area and one of only two mentioned in all of California. Rose Pizzeria took it's name from the rose garden in back of their Berkeley location, where many guests dine.

Rose Pizzeria's star menu item is indeed pizza and seems to have many restaurant critics at a loss for how to describe what kind of pizza it is.. a cross between New York style and Mid-Western US says the NYT, owner Gobel describes it as a mix between Neapolitan and New York (City) styles.

Just opening on April 27, 2026 is their San Francisco Location in the Richmond District. Here they have some new varieties including a tonda Romana style where the pie is cut into square slices, while the pizza is still round. (Sounds like a pizza from my childhood).

We can accommodate a family style dinner, sharing pizzas, salads and maybe dessert, buying our own pizzas, or a mix. Each pie is 14" which is on the larger size for individual consumption, but you can always take the leftovers home.

Many thanks to Dianne for helping to acquire these reservations.

Chef and Owners: Gerad Gobel and Alexis Rorabaugh

Taxes and Restaurant Fees
Dining in San Francisco has a sales tax (8.625%) and probably an employee health mandate (3-10%), a tip (20%) may be automatically added, even on individual bills, if not we expect a 20% minimum tip to be paid for individual bills. We will try to get separate checks, but remember to bring cash.
Each diner is responsible for their own orders and costs but we will have to consolidate and divvy up the final bill accordingly.
Please bring cash or have Zelle or Apple Cash available.
