GADA is a new and popular sandwich spot in the Castro. Per the San Francisco Standard, the signature offering is the raclette malawi sandwich. The crepe-like creations combine European cheeses — particularly gooey, pungent Swiss raclette, but also fontina — with the Tunisian olive-oil-soaked flat bread called malawi.

Chef Mohammed “Moe” Adibi makes the malawi bread using a dough spread thinly, sprinkled with olive oil, and then transferred to a griddle to cook, where it puffs up. Torpedo rolls are also an option.

Sandwich filling options include cheese, prosciutto, salami, sausage & onion, bacon, chicken, ham, and mortadella.

Per Chef Adibi, “My sandwiches are fat. My sandwiches take time.”

We’ll meet for fat sandwiches in the shop. Depending on group size and weather, we’ll either eat in the shop or walk to a nearby park. If you have been waiting for a casual, low cost event, this is it.
