Talk #1: Magic-Wormhole: Simple Secure File Transfer
DESCRIPTION
"magic-wormhole" is a simple tool to move files from one computer to another, like "scp" but without the setup. By telling the recipient just a few secret words, the file is safely encrypted and delivered directly to the correct machine. The talk will explain the security mechanics, the cryptography (NaCl and SPAKE2), and how to use the underlying open-source library in your own applications.
BIO
Brian Warner is a security engineer and software developer, having worked at Mozilla on Firefox Sync, the Add-On SDK, and Persona. He created Buildbot and Versioneer, is co-founder of the Tahoe-LAFS distributed secure filesystem, and develops secure storage and communication tools.
Talk #2: The pycoin library
The pycoin library is an open-source Python-based Bitcoin and alt-coin utility library. It includes a couple general-purpose command line tools "ku" for manipulating keys and "tx" for manipulating transactions. This talk will cover bitcoin transactions and investigate some of the features of these command-line tools.
BIO
Richard Kiss has been trying to figure out Bitcoin since 2011, and first released the open source Python library pycoin in 2012. He's worked at several start-ups including ChangeTip and Paxos, plus a few others prior to the crypto-currency era. He enjoys donuts and writing in the third person.
