This month we're teaming up with the San Francisco Online Community Meetup Group, #OCTribe, for a special presentation on how to really take your org's impact to the next level - multinational television.
Social Media, Event Television and Big Blue Live.
In Summer 2015, PBS and the BBC joined forces to present Big Blue Live: a multi-night live TV event filmed at Monterey Bay Aquarium and screened both in the UK and US. The show’s US broadcast placed in the top five TV shows being discussed on nationwide social media for all three nights of its airing. Hear how KQED, as the Bay Area’s PBS station, joined forces with PBS and the BBC to leverage social media around this TV event, build buzz and command online conversation while driving that very traditional thing: TV tune-in.
About the Speaker:
Carly Severn, Social Media Manager, KQED
As a central strategic advocate for social media at the San Francisco Bay Area’s NPR and PBS stations, Carly acts as the day-to-day voice of @KQED (http://www.twitter.com/kqed) across multiple social media platforms, speaking to 165k+ social media users daily. Her goals include driving radio and TV engagement, online discussion, donations, traffic to kqed.org (http://kqed.org/) and cultivating a dedicated, vocal community of public media devotees across the Bay and beyond, while acting a point of guidance and strategy for KQED’s many content areas (Arts, News, Science etc.) Carly has worked in social media and digital communications for almost a decade, and previously worked at San Francisco Ballet, where she was nominated as one of three finalists for the Oracle/Vitrue 2012 Community Manager of the Year Award, and at the Fitzwilliam Museum in the UK (the art museum of Cambridge University.) In her spare time she’s a beauty blogger specializing in make-up applications for cancer and alopecia patients, with tutorials featured in Vogue. Follow her on Twitter at @teacupinthebay (http://www.twitter.com/teacupinthebay)
