Getting Supporters to Act through Social Media

Details

Nothing stays the same in this world, and that's especially true when you're taking about Facebook! The latest change is the new Timeline feature - and love it or hate it, if you're using Facebook as part of your non-profit fundraising and community building efforts, you need to get up to speed!

This month we're excited to be partnering with the 501 Tech Club (http://groups.nten.org/group.htm?mode=gvb&igid=6244) group to bring you Susan Gordon, Director of Nonprofit Services at Causes.com!

New, Improved, and Better-than-Ever: Getting Supporters to Act through Social Media

Facebook just upgraded to Timeline. Causes just upgraded to include a huge new suite of tools including online petitions, a storytelling tool, pledges, video campaigns, quizzes, polls, and more. Now what do those changes mean for your next campaign? Learn how you can use Causes to launch exciting action campaigns that will inspire your supporters to take action and pull their friends in like never before. We will walk you through the new action types, share some early data and case studies, and show you how to use these new tools to revitalize your social media presence.

About Causes: Causes.com (http://Causes.com/) is the world’s largest platform for activism and philanthropy. We empower individuals to create grassroots communities called “causes” and run action campaigns that bring communities of people together to change the world. Since our founding by Sean Parker and Joe Green as one of the first Facebook applications in 2007, Causes has brought together 170 million people, 500,000 user-created causes, and raised over $40 million for nonprofits on the platform.

About Susan Gordon: Susan Gordon is the Director of Nonprofit Services at Causes.com (http://Causes.com/). Susan has worked at Causes since March of 2007 and manages support and relationships with the 20,000 nonprofits using the Causes platform. She is passionate about helping nonprofits use social media to run action campaigns that change the world. Susan grew up in Minnesota and received her B.A. in History from Dartmouth College. She has worked as a political organizer, communications specialist for a women's nonprofit in Cambodia, and head of a mentoring organization in New Hampshire.

Doors open at 6pm and speaker presentation begins at 6:30pm! Limited space available for this MeetUp, so be sure to RSVP quickly and let us know if your plans change.

Not familiar with the 501 Tech Club yet? You should be - we have very similar missions and are super excited to be doing this event with them!
