About us
Welcome to the SG-Thailand Road Cycling and Events Meetup group! This group is for cycling enthusiasts who are interested in exploring the beautiful roads and countryside of Thailand together. Whether you're a seasoned pro or new to cycling, come join us for group rides, cycling events, and meet fellow cyclists who share the same passion for fitness and adventure. Let's pedal our way to unforgettable experiences and create lasting memories on two wheels. Join us today and let's conquer the roads together!
This is NOT a group for cycling from SG to Thailand.
Enjoy the long roads and climbs during cycling events organised throughout the year in multiple locations around Thailand. From the nearby mountains at Khao Yai National Park (just a 2-hour drive from Bangkok), to the northern city of Chiang Mai and the flatter lands in the south, challenge and expand your cycling destinations beyond SG and MY.
Join me on my regular training camps, typically every January and July, training almost daily at the Bangkok Airport Skylane (Happy and Healthy Bike Lane), and capped off with events like the Shimano Blue Fest ride (70-110Km) and other summer events in July-October. All events are suitable for fit beginners as well as riders with decades of experience. You don't need to be a pro to train like one!
Training camps are free to join, I'm not charging anything! Of course, organised events have a registration fee charged by the respective organisers, but they are super reasonable compared to the crazy prices in SG.
As for me, I have over 30 years of road cycling, bikepacking and mountain biking experience and a former bike mechanic. Happy to give the opportunity and share with fellow SG riders the awesome riding around the Skylane and Thailand.

Usual disclaimer: No relation to the event organisers.
Distances of either 108Km or 75Km, with 809/632m of elevation gain. Tough part is the 17% gradient for around 100m at the 74Km mark. Most riders will have to walk up unless you have ultra low gearing. Highly recommend an 11-42T cassette with a compact or smaller crankset. The rest of the route is very manageable for most fit beginners and experienced riders.
Difficulty level:
- Fit beginners: Challenging.
- Experienced riders: Doable. Complete within a certain time for extra challenge.
Requires hiring a car and driver to transport you and your bike to the start point, about 3 hours drive from Bangkok. Stay overnight in an accommodation of your own choice the night before the event (10 October) and return the same day once the event is over (11 October). Ideally, two to three riders to share the cost of the transport.
October 2026 Road Cycling Training Camp
Training camp (optional) around the Bangkok Skylane starts a week before to prep for the event.
Bring your own bike from Singapore or rent a road bike from one of the many bike shops in Bangkok. The Skylane offers road bikes for rent, from mid-tier models to pro-level Pinarellos and Cervelos. The bike-only cycling track is a 23.5km loop around the airport, totally flat and smooth. Join the numerous pacelines to push hard or do your own time-trial.

My usual practice is to do 3 laps, typically a mix of solo and with paceline groups that easily number a hundred riders for popular packs, to small groups of 10 or 20. If you feel strong, you can pull the group for a bit. Rotate back whenever you need to recover. Gain the experience and thrill of riding in a massive paceline that can never happen in SG. Get to know local groups and riders and expand your horizons. You will need to:
1. Book your own flights from SG-BKK-SG.
2. Book your own hotel at BKK. My choice is the Great Residence Hotel as it is the nearest hotel to the Skylane. Around $30.00/night.
3, Register for the event on the 11 October 2026. Typically costs around $30.00-40.00. Registration closes on 30 September 2026, or 300 riders. Currently it has around 50 riders.
4. Rent a road bike from a local bike shop if you're not bringing your own. The Skylane bike rental is only for riding at the Skylane.
5. Book a driver and car to send you to the race start point and hotel and back to BKK. I have some contacts to refer to you.
6. Book your hotel for one night at the race venue. Have to be fast as availability is limited.
That's more or less it.Feel free to contact me if you're interested to join the event or the training camp, or just to chat and find out more. FYI, I don't make a cent from any of this, it's just to share my interest for road cycling and hope to get keen beginners and intermediate riders off to a start with riding overseas and not get cooped up riding in Singapore.
