About us
Welcome to Caravanserai!
A free, non-commercial meetup open to everyone — no travel experience needed. We share stories, explore ethnic neighborhoods and food, and connect with travelers passing through Singapore.
Join us. Stay curious.
Why Caravanserai?
In the days past, traveling caravans would stop at a caravanserai — a wayside inn. Around the fire, they made friends and traded stories of the people and places they'd encountered.
We're inspired by that spirit: a place to pause, connect, and learn from one another.

Talking to strangers
Brew Moments, #02-42, City Gate, 371 Beach Rd, Singapore 199597, Singapore, SGTLDR: Phones dead, flight delayed, nothing to do but talk to the strangers next to you - that's the meetup. Choose your pretend home city and name. No contacts exchanged, And we'll see what we end up talking about.
More:
Was there ever a time when you were stuck at an airport, your phone almost dead, with no choice but to talk to the folks around you? You discussed all kinds of things, perhaps because everyone knew they would never meet again. People left when it was time for their flights, but never bothered to ask for a name or contact, because it didn't matter.Let's try this. We'll pretend we're travelers stuck at an airport, nothing to do but talk. We'll each get a label — pen in a fake name, and the name of a pretend somewhere you're from. No exchanging contacts. We will come as strangers and leave as stranger-friends who may never meet again. Let's see what we end up talking about.
Inspired by countless hours spent at airports talking to strangers.
Note: Please do update your RSVP if you are skipping the meetup. We don't care about this for the meet at the library as we have enough seating. But for meets at smaller cafes, I feel bad reserving seating which remain unused.

More
We've all heard of someone who booked a flight to Korea or China after falling in love with a drama. What about you? Was there a movie, book, or song that made you want to visit a place? Maybe it was the scenery, or the way a story brought a culture to life. And when you finally got there, did it live up to what you'd imagined?
Agenda
8 to 8:45 PM, discussions at the library
At 8:50, we'll move to the Bras Basah food court to keep chatting in smaller groups9 attendees
