What we’re about
Shut Up & Write! is a global community that empowers writers to overcome procrastination, silence their inner critic, and make consistent progress on their projects. Our events provide a structured and focused environment where writers can come together, set aside distractions, and achieve their writing goals.
What to Expect
Our events use our proven formula: a few minutes of introductions, a period of focused writing, and a final check-in to share our progress. Once you arrive, our host will lead introductions, and then everyone will write for a quiet, focused period of time. Afterward, we’ll have an optional time to chat and get to know each other. Our events are a safe space for writers to work on their craft. No one will read or critique your writing.

Shut Up & Write!
Here's how it works. Show up at or before 6:00. At 6:00, we do some quick introductions. Afterward, for a full 60 minutes (I'll set a timer!) we are heads-down writing. Writing what? A novel? You bet. Some poetry? Sure. Song lyrics? Your resume? That report you need to get to your boss before 8 AM or you'll need to write that resume? All of the above and more. Just shut up and write.
Surrounding ourselves with other writers who are busy putting words onto page (physical or virtual) keeps us all accountable and focused.
When the timer goes off, we'll check-in with each other and see how it went. Afterward, feel free to stay to chat and get to know your fellow writers, or keep writing, or take off.
Socializing is optional and will happen after (or briefly before) the focused writing. This is a safe space to work on your craft. No one will read or critique your writing.
