Shut Up & Write! is a global community that empowers writers to overcome procrastination, silence their inner critic, and make consistent progress on their projects. Our events provide a structured and focused environment where writers can come together, set aside distractions, and achieve their writing goals.
What to Expect
Our events use our proven formula: a few minutes of introductions, a period of focused writing, and a final check-in to share our progress. Once you arrive, our host will lead introductions, and then everyone will write for a quiet, focused period of time. Afterward, we’ll have an optional time to chat and get to know each other. Our events are a safe space for writers to work on their craft. No one will read or critique your writing.

The Shut Up & Write! Team---
Join us for an hour of writing! We’ve discovered that it’s strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if it’s true for you at 7:00 on this Wednesday evening.
Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done.
SCHEDULE:
7:00 - quick intros.
7:10 - timer starts: write for 1 hour.
8:10 - (the end) chat / take off / keep writing. The cafe closes at 9PM.
OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens at 8:10 PM. Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing.
BEING LATE IS OKAY: just show up and get settled, then check-in with me after the session. (I’ll be the person with the Shut Up & Write! sign.) If you were on time, please be willing to make room for the friendly latecomer.

What Should I Bring?
Whatever you need to be able to write! Bring earbuds/earplugs if you want to block the cafe’s overhead music or the occasional conversation by other patrons. There are some electrical outlets available, but bringing your laptop fully charged would be a good idea.
Other Important Details:
Public WiFi is available.
Plenty of parking space.
Look for the "Shut Up & Write!" sign, inside at a long table.
Please plan to purchase an item from the cafe. There are plenty of snacks and food items.
