Shut Up & Write! Madison Lakeside Cafe
Details
Where: Lakeside Street Coffee House
When: Every Monday, 10:00 AM
Join us for an hour of writing! Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, no one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some words on the page. We’ve discovered that it’s strikingly helpful to write next to other writers: see if it’s true for you at 10 am on Monday mornings.
**If you can get there an hour early, help reserve tables in the back/not the coffee-making room! Ask for more information when you come next time.
SCHEDULE:
10:00 am - Quick introductions
10:05 am - Timer starts: write for 1 hour
11:05 am - The End: chat, take off, or keep writing
OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens at 11:00. Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing.
What Should I Bring?
Whatever you need to be able to write!
Bring earbuds/earplugs if you want to block the cafe’s overhead music or the occasional conversation by other patrons.
Please come with your laptop pre-charged -- there are not many plugs available!
Being late is okay! Just show up and get settled, or find an open spot at a nearby table and join us when the timer goes off. If you are on time, please be prepared to make room for friendly latecomers.
Other Important Details:
Lakeside Street does have public WiFi.
TRAVEL / PARKING: There is street parking available, but please follow all posted signs! (Do not park in front of the building for this session. Alternatively, thank you for supporting our local tax base by paying your ticket.)
GUIDELINES: Lakeside does serve drinks and food, so thank our hosts by buying something. (If you're a regular, ask for a coffee punch card to get one free after 12 purchased.)
