What we’re about
Shut Up & Write! is a global community that empowers writers to overcome procrastination, silence their inner critic, and make consistent progress on their projects. Our events provide a structured and focused environment where writers can come together, set aside distractions, and achieve their writing goals.
What to Expect
Our events use our proven formula: a few minutes of introductions, a period of focused writing, and a final check-in to share our progress. Once you arrive, our host will lead introductions, and then everyone will write for a quiet, focused period of time. Afterward, we’ll have an optional time to chat and get to know each other. Our events are a safe space for writers to work on their craft. No one will read or critique your writing.

See all- Shut Up & Write!® Brooklyn Carreta/SE PortlandBrooklyn Carreta Bar & Carts, Portland, OR
Since Crux/SE Portland closed, we are now settling in at Brooklyn Carreta.
Our goal is to ensure that every writer, regardless of genre or skill level, has access to the community, accountability, and resources they need to be successful in their personal writing goals.
What to Expect
We support each other in the struggle to write. This group generally writes for 25 minutes or so and then takes a 10 minute or so break to chat. Although we are not a critique group, we do talk about writing topics, such as character development, plot organization, etc. The point is to encourage and offer useful tips. For more information about our events, visit https://shutupwrite.com.
