Writing in person - we’ve discovered - is focused, productive, and energizing. All writers and all experience levels are welcome! Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write with us. No one will see what you've written or give unsolicited advice.

6:30 - 8:00 pm, Wednesday Evenings

6:30 - Arrive, settle in
We will plan to meet at a large table in the back dining room, and there will be a Shut Up & Write sign on the table. The back room is accessible by stairs or ramp.
6:45 - Quick introductions
7:00 - Timer starts: write for 1 hour
8:00 - End. Recap. Share (optional).

OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens until 9 pm.

BEING LATE IS OKAY: just show up and get settled, then check-in after the session.

What Should I Bring?
Whatever you need to be able to write!
Bring earbuds/earplugs if you want to block the cafe’s overhead music or the occasional conversation by other patrons.

Other Important Details:
Peloton Cafe has WiFi, and there are a few electrical outlets.
Parking is on the street.
The 3/4 bus line runs right by the cafe.
For summer: This location does not have air conditioning.

GUIDELINES: Please thank our hosts by purchasing something! They have a drinks and food menu, including vegan and gluten free options.

Come write with us on Fridays! This is a coworking hour for any and all writers, no matter your experience level or what you write.

Yes, you can write anything: a zine, an article, a cover letter, a dream journal, a homework essay, your next novel, etc. If you want to write, you are welcome here.

We don’t share our work or provide critiques/feedback. Like it says on the tin, we just shut up and write :)

Tips:

• Look for the reserved table signs at the back of the cafe (past the staircase)!
• Bring noise cancelling headphones/ear muffs if you don’t enjoy the background noise of a busy cafe.
• If you need to take a phone call, please step away from group to take it.

Here's the schedule:

Before 10:30 (optional) | Socialize, say hi, set your shit up, hang out, toilet time, and/or support our local coffeeshop by purchasing a beverage or foodstuff of your choice.

10:30 - 10:45 | Introductions (and optional summary of what you plan to work on)
10:45 - 11:45 | Shut up and write!
11:45 - 12:00 | Summary of how it went (and reminder introductions).

After 12:00 (optional) | You're free to scurry away or stay to write and/or chat after

Coworking for writers in your area!
Join us for some focused writing time. All writers and all experience levels are welcome and don’t worry, no one will see what you've written. This session is about getting your writing done and meeting other writers in your area.

When you show up, say hello to everyone, grab a drink, and get your writing tools ready. Once you’re all settled, take some time to chat with your fellow writers. Once everyone’s arrived, I will lead quick introductions and then set the timer for our quiet and focused writing session.

Afterward, we’ll have time to chat and get to know each other. We often talk about our successes and challenges as writers. If you don’t have time to stick around, no worries!
