Shut Up & Write! is a global community that empowers writers to overcome procrastination, silence their inner critic, and make consistent progress on their projects. Our events provide a structured and focused environment where writers can come together, set aside distractions, and achieve their writing goals.
What to Expect
Our events use our proven formula: a few minutes of introductions, a period of focused writing, and a final check-in to share our progress. Once you arrive, our host will lead introductions, and then everyone will write for a quiet, focused period of time. Afterward, we’ll have an optional time to chat and get to know each other. Our events are a safe space for writers to work on their craft. No one will read or critique your writing.

Coworking for writers in Cap Hill! Join us for some focused writing time with a warm, welcoming community.
At Shut Up and Write!, you'll get some writing done and meet other writers in your community, all in a low-pressure environment. All writers, all projects (journaling, fiction, nonfiction, and more), and all experience levels are welcome. And don’t worry, no one will see what you've written, as we don't require sharing or reading aloud.
Here’s the schedule:
4:00 - 4:15 | Socialize, meet, hang out, support local coffeeshop by purchasing a beverage of your choice.
4:15 - 4:30 | Introductions (and summary of what you plan to work on)
4:30 - 5:30 | Shut up and write!
5:30 | You’re free to leave (it's a great time for dinner in Cap Hill) or stay and get to know each other better.A note about the format:
We don’t host critiques or readings. You’re welcome to exchange contact info for feedback/critique requests; otherwise we do not support critiquing in-session. These events are a safe space for writers of all skill levels and genres to work on their craft, so no one will read or critique your writing.

Travel / Parking info: Limited street parking is available nearby. Otherwise there is a plethora of public transit options, including a jaunt through Cal Anderson Park from the Capitol Hill Link Station. Use any map app or the OneBusAway transit app for other nearby or connecting transit options.
