Sungei Yong Waterfalls Hike & Play
Marsiling MRT Bus Stop, Marsiling, Singapore, Singapore, SGReady for sign-up! => NO POINT RSVP w/o paying.
Question? WhatsApp organizer
โก๏ธ Pay to secure a slot
Min. 8 pax to confirm. This trek is all about being in pristine nature, waterfalls & rivers - an active and healthy way to spend a day. In the cool waterfall environment, how does sipping hot coffee/tea and fresh fruits while enjoying your lunch sound?
No real need for hiking tee - this is a WET WET WET day.Sungei Yong is a relatively unknown river about 18 km east of Kluang, Johor. It is located in the same oil palm plantation as Gunung Belumut.
Gunung Belumut is an isolated mountain (1010 m) about 25 km east of Kluang. This distinctive mountain resembling a โcrouching dinosaurโ is also the most prominent landmark in the district of Kluang. The mountain is clad in dipterocarp lowland and sub-montane forest. There is a well-maintained Recreational Forest on the slope of the mountain, and the road sign even posts a waterfall there. The Sg Yong falls consist of seven tiers. The falls go down a narrow gorge.
Other than the relatively clean state of the river, it also boasted 7 large waterfalls and 20 smaller ones. However, as most of the larger waterfalls are found on a short stretch of the river and the waterfalls come in various heights, it is not easy to classify and count the actual number of large waterfalls encountered. But there are certainly many small ones about one or two meters high. It is not worth the effort to go in search of the other waterfalls after the first large waterfall.Although the waterfalls in Sungei Yong are not very spectacular, the trek is still relatively clean and unspoilt.
This is a must-do for nature lovers seeking a refreshing, adventurous getaway with stunning, multi-tiered waterfalls (up to 14 tiers, with the 4th being the largest) and clean, unpolluted waters.
After a simple walk to a campsite, the actual hike up and down is 1.5 - 2 km. Though the distance is short, the trail involves a mixture of river crossing, forest trail and scampering over rocks with ropes. Extreme care has to be taken because the rocks are quite slippery. Good water shoes like Kampog Adidas must be worn. Gloves will be very useful. Our watchful guides will be around to assist whenever it is needed.
Suitable: If you love waterfalls, are willing to do wet hiking of 1.5 - 2 km over wet/slippery trail with safety gear [is a MUST]. Not a long-distance or physically demanding hike. An adventurous spirit is a must.
After reaching the main fall, we will have piping coffee, tea and fresh fruits served. While everyone soaks in the beneficial negative ions, cool dip or do water formation, etc.

Min. 8 pax to confirm.Gunung Lambak (Mount Lambak) is a popular hiking destination located in the Kluang District of Johor, Malaysia, standing at an elevation of 510 metres. It is widely regarded as a beginner-friendly mountain, though it features varied terrain that can still provide a good workout for experienced hikers.
This butterfly loop is a challenging route for very good trainingHiking Overview
The mountain offers several trails ranging from paved roads to steep jungle paths. The Gunung Lambak Butterfly Route in Johor, that connects the two summits of Gunung Lambak (510m) in a shape resembling a butterfly. This intermediate-to-advanced trail is renowned for its steep, technical terrain, narrow ridges, and dense forest, making it a popular training ground for larger hikes.
Key Features of the Butterfly Route
- Total Distance: Approximately 10 โ 12 km (variations exist, with some shortcut routes recorded at 10 km).
- Elevation Gain: Roughly ~ 900+ meters, with steep, non-stop climbs. ๐ A few sections with ropes and tree roots only! Gloves will be good. ๐
- Duration: Typically takes 5โ6 hours, depending on pace and trail conditions. ๐ We will start earlier and allow more time for a slower pace. Safety is of utmost importance. ๐
- Highlights: Covers both the North and South peaks, passing through steep, rooted terrain, ridge walks, and dense, scenic jungle.
Route Details
- The "Butterfly" Concept: The route lets you summit both the North and South peaks in one go. You typically go up one summit, descend, and then climb back up the other to complete the "wings" of the butterfly.
- Terrain: Expect dense forest, sprawling tree roots, and muddy trails. Some sections have a 60-degree incline requiring the use of fixed ropes. The trail is mostly steep jungle terrain with high steps, exposed roots, and no flat ground.
Who is Suitable?
Regular hikers who have hiked in Malaysia's terrain before will appreciate the beginner-friendly options: Panti, Pulai, Broga, Arong, Blue Lake, Bukit Mor, or the intermediate options like Datok and Angsi. This will be a higher level of your skills. Not suitable if you have never hiked in Malaysian jungle terrain before. Visiting these 2 in autumn (late October to early November) is essential to witness a stunning, fleeting transformation where vibrant, fiery red and golden birch forests reflect on crystal-clear, turquoise alpine lakes.
