Mongolia Annual Golden Eagles Festival
In the expansive steppes of Mongolia, an event as majestic as the landscape itself takes place every yearโThe Golden Eagle Festival. Rooted in a centuries-old tradition, this festival brings together Kazakh eagle hunters, or "Berkutchi," from various parts of Mongolia and beyond. It celebrates not only the remarkable skill of golden eagles but also the incredible bond between these birds and their handlers. For travellers and cultural enthusiasts, this is a lifetime experience that encapsulates the essence of Mongolian nomadic culture.
Past traveller recounted: "Like a scene from a historical movie, I faced an army of hunters clad in fur skins and traditional Kazakh attire, riding on horseback with fierce-looking golden eagles perched on their arms. This captivating scene marked the start of the annual Golden Eagle Festival".
Festival Venue: Bayan-รlgii province, is located in the far westernmost of Mongolia. This region is home to the highest mountains in Mongolia, including the Altai Mountains, and provides the perfect backdrop for this celebration. Travelling by road from Ulaabaator is ~ 1700 km.
