Nestled in the rugged beauty of northwest Yunnan, Yubeng Village (雨崩) is a hidden gem waiting to be explored. Surrounded by snow-capped peaks, pristine forests, and alpine meadows, this remote Tibetan village offers nature enthusiasts and trekkers an unforgettable adventure.
The Village is located at the foot of the holy Meili Snow Mountain, not very far away from Shangri-La and Tibet. The main peak of Meili, namely Kawakarpo Peak, tops the list of 8 Sacred Mountains in the Tibetan Areas.
It’s only accessible by foot or mule, which has preserved its authenticity and natural beauty, making it one of China’s most legendary trekking destinations.
Yubeng Village has long served as a pilgrimage destination for Tibetan Buddhists, who journey here to seek blessings and purification through sacred rituals. We are hiking this route, hence the title 朝圣梅里、探秘雨崩. => 绝色香巴拉 breathtaking Shambhala, a legendary hidden paradise in Tibetan Buddhism.

HIGHLIGHT # 1️⃣ Tiger Leaping Gorge [Scenic section]
5 km, 4 hours easy hike for all.

Hiking on our selected section rewards you with the best views of both legendary mountain ranges in China.

A moderately challenging but breathtaking high-altitude trek to a pristine alpine lake. It's gaining popularity among serious hikers for its stunning scenery, remote atmosphere, and spiritual serenity.
10 km, +750 m elevation gain, 5-6 hours with pack lunch, high altitude. Start at 3590 m, reach the lake at 4200 m, then stay at the Shangri-La area ~ 3000 m.

▬ Who is suitable? ▬ Intermediate hikers advised.
General Trekking Difficulty: Yubeng is often considered a beginner-friendly route, but it isn't easy, especially given the high altitude. However, as long as you don't suffer from altitude sickness and have decent physical fitness, you should be able to complete the trek.
Though Yubeng is often said to have a lower risk of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) compared to other high-altitude treks like those in Tibet or Nepal for various reasons, mild AMS is still possible.
You must not have any medical conditions related to blood, lungs, or heart and should be living an active lifestyle or regularly exercising in any form. There are NO requirements that you have done a trip of more than 3000 m before. With proper preparation, AMS can be managed with our vast experience.
☼☼☼☼
We have always focused on properly managing the altitude challenge and have accumulated expertise over the years. Yubeng seem to be blessed with a lower case of AMS => Purity & Lack of Pollution: Yubeng is far from cities and industrial zones. There are no cars, factories, or heavy infrastructure, meaning air pollution is extremely low. You’re breathing clean mountain air. Gradual Ascent - You can’t drive directly to Yubeng.
- Visitors usually travel to Feilaisi or Xidang, and then hike several hours to Yubeng.
- This hike is a natural acclimatisation process. You're gaining altitude slowly, which helps the body adjust and lowers AMS risk.
First night in Lijiang, situated at 2,500 meters, also helps. A proper briefing will be conducted.
