Tribute to David Bowie, #1 North American Tribute to David Bowie, REG $20 our PRICE $5 November 16th Friday Night at 8 pm Live at Dollar Cinema, #1 North American Tribute to David Bowie, Bowie Lives. Licensed Event All Ages SAQ Licensed Event "Bowie Lives" features award winning vocalist Michael Bell and a band of master musicians as they bring the music of David Bowie back to life. Michael Bell is an award winning vocalist and songwriter and no stranger to the music of David Bowie. His first theatrical production "ChangesAllBowie" toured the "A circuit" in the late 80's and included 8 costume changes, dancers, theatre props and a custom recorded musical accompaniment. He hung up his "Ziggy" in the early 90's and never imagined professionally performing Bowie again! After David's untimely death January 10, 2016, his calling returned, as did the industry interest. Contacting long time musical director Michael Beaclerc, they began auditioning players to fill out a band capable of performing some of Rock's most challenging material. About the Show Bowie Lives, a tribute to David Bowie’s life and music, is coming to the Dollar Cinema on Nov. 16th. And multi award-winning singer-songwriter Michael Bell is happy to be performing in Montreal. The six-piece David Bowie tribute experience, featuring vocalist Bell and a band of master musicians, reminds fans of the impact Bowie had on so many. David Bowie, of course, was an English singer, songwriter and actor, and often considered to be one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century. Bowie died at age 69 in January of 2016, after a long battle with liver cancer. In Bowie Lives, Bell conjures the vocal performances and the sounds that span four decades, from the Spiders from Mars to the Scary Monster. “It’s a calling that began decades ago after finding my first Bowie album ‘Man Who Sold the World’ when I was just a kid,” Bell said. “I was born to sing Bowie.” Bell would sign a record deal as a teenager, would have a Q107 Homegrown win, then perform ‘ChangesAllBowie,’ a tribute to Bowie he staged in the late 1980s. Bell would meet the girl of his dreams, leave the stage and, over the next 30 years, help raise a family and run a business. As founder/publisher of The Wire Megazine, a regional entertainment tabloid in the Kawarthas in Ontario, Bell has worked the musical industry from behind the scenes since 1989. He said it was about five years ago when he made “a conscious decision to get back into (performing on stage).” After Bowie’s passing, Bell was approached with offers to pay tribute to the artist that inspired him over the course of his own recording and stage career, and he couldn’t resist. He’s been performing the show mostly in southern Ontario, since the spring of 2017. “It was a heartfelt decision, for sure (to perform as Bowie again),” Bell said. Reviews have been stellar. “It’s by far the coolest and best Bowie tribute I’ve seen,” said Sam Grosso, owner of Toronto’s legendary Cadillac Lounge. Los Angeles producer Greg Wells (Katy Perry, Aerosmith, Adele) has called Bell “one of the most talented vocalists I’ve ever worked with.”
