About us
Not your grandma's book club! This is a group for people who enjoy reading and discussing smutty books! We have three chapters. Each month we will choose a romance or erotica book to read and discuss. Each chapter usually chooses a different book. Join us for book discussions and drink specials. Bring your recommendations for upcoming months.
It has come to our attention that someone has been using the name of Smutty Book Club and its organizers to invite people to for-profit events. Smutty Book Club (SBC) & Brooklyn Smutty Book Club (BSBC) are strictly social clubs and do not profit off of events. No fees are collected to participate in SBC or BSBC. All official Club events will always be listed on the Meetup.com website. All Club communication will come through the Meetup.com website. If you receive any solicitation for an event or receive communication outside of Meetup, asking for a fee - it is a scam. Please let us know if you have any concerns. Thank you
We meet in Manhattan the first Tuesday of the month at Cornerstone Tavern, 961 2nd Ave, New York, NY 10022 (at 51st Street). 7pm! We meet in Brooklyn the third Wednesday of the month at Paddy's of Park Slope, 273 13th St, Brooklyn, NY 11215, 7pm! Meet-up searches are done by zip code, so Brooklyn Smutty Book Club has a separate Meet-up listing: https://www.meetup.com/BROOKLYN-Smutty-Book-Club/
We meet Virtually the fourth Thursday of the month on Zoom. 7pm.
See you soon at Smutty Book Club!

Virtual Smutty Book Club - The Poison Daughter by Sheila Masterson
·OnlineOnlineThe book for October is recommended by Dawn - The Poison Daughter by Sheila Masterson. It's an enemies to lovers book with scary vampire hordes, horrible ruling families, frustrating (sometimes violent) arranged marriages, and a kick butt vigilante main female character who punishes abusive men and has a magical poison kiss! Trigger warning - there is a character close to our main character who is in an abusive marriage. . . . plus ya know all the murder :)
Quick housekeeping note: Scammers have been using the name of Smutty Book Club and its organizers to invite people to for-profit events. If you receive any solicitation for an event or receive communication outside of Meetup asking for money, then it is a scam. Please let us know if you see anything suspicious.
Virtual Smutty Book Club always has been and always will be Virtual.OK back to The Poison Daughter. Here's what the publisher says:
To err is human. To avenge is Divine.
. Every person Harlow Carrenwell kisses dies immediately, and that’s the way she likes it. The poison-lipped youngest daughter of Lunameade’s magical founding family has used her power to annihilate their opposition.
. Her first husband is in the ground. Her new betrothed is next.
. But the merry widow has a secret. When she’s not acting as an assassin at her parents' whims, she moonlights as a vigilante for abused women in their walled-off city.
. Meet a man. Lure him in. Kill him with a kiss. Until one night Harlow kisses a mark and he doesn’t die.
. Worse, her invincible partner in passion is her new betrothed, Henry Havenwood, and now he knows about her double life. Instead of selling her out and bringing the rival families to blows, he does something much more sinister—whisks her away to wed in his wild mountain fort.
. Harlow doesn’t trust Henry, but the only way to protect her family and the city of Lunameade is to figure out what his family is planning.
. Cursed with a husband she can’t kill and trapped in a fort miles of vampire-infested woods from home, Harlow’s survival requires her to do the impossible: Make the man who knows she’s a killer fall in love with her anyway.
. The Poison Daughter is a standalone dark fantasy romance that combines the vigilante justice for abusive men of Promising Young Woman with a romantasy arranged marriage and a dash of vampires. We meet online (Zoom) the forth Thursday of every month.
The book will be chosen at the previous month's book club - so stay tuned.
See you soon at Virtual Smutty Book Club.
