Plein Air for Beginners Workshop ($40 Cost)
Details
Let's kick off Spring with a workshop for the folks who've been wanting to try painting outdoors Plein Air, but have been intimidated by one or more of the many reasons holding most artists back from painting outdoors.
I've been hosting Plein Air events every Saturday since 2017 and I've learned enough about painting outdoors in these 6 years that I feel like I can help those of you wanting to either try painting outdoors for the first time or want to learn more about how to get started on the right foot.
I'll be demoing using oil paint, but all mediums are welcome.
The agenda for the session will be divided up as follows:
- Gear: We'll discuss paint, panels, brushes, easels, etc.
- Painting: We'll discuss color mixing, values, composition, atmospheric perspective, focal point, etc.
- Demo: I'll give a short demo by painting a scene from the location.
- Your turn to paint (optional): You can either try to recreate my demo or paint a scene from the location. I'll coach you through it and answer any questions.
Directions: I'll be hosting this workshop again at Bayland Park in Sunnyvale. From 101 take Caribbean Dr north for .3 miles and turn right on Bayland Park. I'll be set up at the South end of the park near Indian Grass Circle. Note: Don't park or unload your car before you find me. I'll be visible from the road and there's usually ample parking within a few hundred feet from me.
Note: I'm limiting the session to 8-10 members only and will give priority to the members who pay for the session first regardless of RSVP order. This is to ensure that the members who truly want to attend can attend as well as to discourage last minute dropouts and flaking. On the other hand if there's lest than 4 RSVPs, I'll most likely push the date out to when there are more artists interested.
You can pay either through Venmo, Paypal or Zelle at kmacinto@gmail.com.
I'm happy to loan gear and consumables for the workshop, but let me know in advance if you need anything. If you'd like to purchase supplies in advance, here is my recommended supply list: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Lvul2Hnp2t8xHPmTGY8nkDTa9eU5rmTKQCoIMlqNgUw/edit?usp=sharing
