5.6 mile brisk evening walk along the Mountain View shoreline

Details

We’ll be taking advantage of the longer days to enjoy an evening walk along the shoreline. As we walk along this wide and flat gravel path, we’ll see many ducks and shorebirds. We’ll walk at a brisk pace but will pause roughly every 30 minutes to enjoy the birds, re-form the group, and (as desired) change conversation partners. We’ll aim to end a few minutes after the sun goes behind the hills.

We’ll meet at the trailhead along Terminal Boulevard in Mountain View, just at the end of San Antonio Road. Parking is free and there’s a single-stall bathroom at the trailhead. There’s also a bike rack and a water fountain at the trailhead. Your organizer will be wearing a daisy pin for identification.

We’ll walk out for 2.8 miles (a little over an hour) until we reach the top of the small hill in Byxbee Park, then we’ll turn around and walk the same route back (https://maps.app.goo.gl/snXHQqoRBK8ZdTCk7). If you arrive late, feel free to meet us along the trail.

Consider bringing:

  • A hat and/or sunglasses
  • Binoculars for bird watching
  • Shoes with thick soles for comfortably walking on gravel
  • Layers of clothing
  • Water bottle
