What we’re about
Join us to watch foreign films, independent films, shorts, documentaries, and classic films, and discuss them over dinner and drinks. Support The Magic Lantern Theatre, AMC Independent, The Bing Crosby Theater, Spokane film festivals, and other arthouse cinema in Spokane.
We charge membership dues of $15 per year to cover the costs charged by Meetup and to allow us to rent a theater once each year for a free film screening. There is a 90-day free trial period so you can come to some of our meetups before committing to pay dues.
Additional donations are welcome and can be given securely online on our home page. 100% of all donations go toward funding future events.

Saturday Night at the Magic Lantern
Magic Lantern Theatre, 25 W Main Ave, Spokane, WA, USHello fellow movie lovers! Our final Meetup of 2025 will be held next Saturday night, December 20th, at the Magic Lantern Theatre. While the final weekend schedule hasn't been announced yet, we'll most likely be watching THE SECRET AGENT, a highly-lauded political thriller starring Wagner Moura (NARCOS). So far the film is generating lots of awards buzz, and is Brazil's official submission to the Academy Awards for Best International Feature. Here is a brief synopsis and a trailer link:
In 1977, a technology expert flees from a mysterious past and returns to his hometown of Recife in search of peace. He soon realizes that the city is far from being the refuge he seeks.

After the film we'll walk to Pure Northwest, just up the road on the corner of Browne and Main, for dinner, drinks and conversation. The movie's runtime is 2 1/2 hours so we'll likely start earlier than normal, at 4:30pm, and arrive at the restaurant about 7:15pm. Please plan accordingly for any parking needs, and if you decide to see the movie but not attend dinner make sure to mark your RSVP "No."
Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns, and I'm looking forward to seeing everyone once more before the holidays. Your continued support of independent cinema in Spokane, and the Magic Lantern in particular, is forever appreciated, and helps ensure that quality cinema will continue finding its way to our small corner of the world.14 attendees
