Many of us may be familiar with Sun Tzu’s “The Art of War”, yet may be wondering how to apply its Principles and Precepts to our business and everyday life. For instance, learning to effectively apply a precept such as "All warfare is based on deception”, or “Therefore I say: Know the enemy and know yourself; in a hundred battles you will never be in peril.” may be more elusive than originally thought.
Similarly, most of us would have heard of the Golden Rule and do apply it at least to some degree. Not many are familiar with the other Rule, though, the Platinum Rule.

The Platinum Rule applies the Golden Rule to others according to their own tastes and preferences. Some have stated that the Platinum Rule is superior to the Golden Rule. This is not the case. In fact, if the Golden Rule were applied in the right spirit, the Platinum Rule would not need to exist. For example, consider the following statements:
Everyone wants to be loved. Differently.
Everyone wants to be respected. Differently.
Everyone wants to be appreciated. Differently.
Everyone wants to be empowered. Differently.
All four are aspects of the Golden Rule. The Platinum Rule is found in the word “Differently.” Individualized Consideration is important when applying the Golden Rule to specific contexts.

The key lies in application. During the course, you will be taken through some case examples of the text of the Art of War, as well as remarks of several notable commentators. These elaborate on the text's meaning, and illustrate how the Principles have been applied (successfully and otherwise) by historical personalities.
During this full-day course, you can discover the strategic keys of the Art of War, and how these can be applied to your business by:
- Understanding the strengths of your business
- Enhancing particular functions of the business such as Marketing, Sales, Customer Experience, Operations and Supply Chain
- Deepening awareness of the company's environment, collaborative possibilities, and competition
- Increasing confidence in handling possible scenarios through case studies
- Directing strategic solutions to specific business issues
